If your Snow Joe cordless snow blower will not turn on, first check the battery charge, battery installation, and starting sequence.
Battery quantity and operating controls can vary by model, so use the operator's manual for your complete model number when following these checks.
What Should I Check?
-
Check the Battery Charge
Check the charge-level indicator on the battery or batteries before attempting to start the snow blower.
On the 24V-X2-SB18, three illuminated charge-level LEDs indicate a high battery charge, while one illuminated LED indicates that the battery needs to be charged.
-
Make Sure the Required Batteries Are Installed
Install the number of batteries required for your exact model.
For example, the 24V-X2-SB18 requires two 24V batteries operating together. One battery alone cannot provide sufficient power to operate that model.
-
Reinsert the Battery or Batteries
Open the battery compartment and make sure each battery is installed securely.
On the 24V-X2-SB18, slide each battery down until it clicks to lock into position.
-
Use the Correct Starting Sequence
On models such as the 24V-X2-SB18, press and hold the safety switch button first, then pull the ON/OFF trigger toward you.
Once the snow blower starts, release the safety switch button and continue holding the ON/OFF trigger.
Starting order matters: The 24V-X2-SB18 manual specifically states that pressing the controls in reverse order will not start the machine.
What If the Snow Blower Stopped During Use?
If a battery experiences an overload or overheating condition, its integrated protective cutoff can automatically switch the equipment off.
If this occurs, stop using the snow blower and allow the battery to cool for a few minutes before attempting to restart it.
If the battery's protective cutoff has activated, do not continue pressing the ON/OFF trigger. The operator's manual warns that doing so may damage the battery.
Check the Battery Condition
Do not use a battery pack that is damaged or modified.
The operator's manual warns that damaged or modified batteries can behave unpredictably and may create a risk of fire, explosion, or injury.
The operator's manual does not instruct customers to inspect, reposition, or adjust individual battery terminals or prongs as a no-start troubleshooting step.
Battery Configuration Varies by Model
The current Snow Joe collection includes cordless snow-removal equipment with different battery configurations.
For example, the 24V-X2-SB18 uses two 24V lithium-ion batteries together to provide up to 48V maximum system power.
Always check the operator's manual for your exact snow blower to confirm its battery requirements and starting controls.
