Before You Begin
Check the carton for the electric snow thrower with handle, chute crank rod with cotter pin, four handle/deflector knobs, two square J-bolts, two carriage bolts, two rubber washers, chute deflector, and operator’s manual with registration card.
Safety first: Keep the snow thrower unplugged throughout assembly. Inspect the wiring for shipping damage. If you notice or suspect damage, do not assemble or use the machine. Contact Shop Joe Customer Care for help.
Assemble the Handle Frames
-
Lock the Upper Handle
Connect the middle handle assembly to the upper handle and fasten the handle locks on both sides (manual Fig. 1).
-
Align the Lower Handle
Align the holes at the bottom of the middle handle assembly with the holes in the lower handle (manual Fig. 2).
-
Secure the Middle Handle
Fasten the middle handle assembly to the lower handle with the two square J-bolts and two handle knobs. Install the knobs on the inside of the unit and tighten (manual Fig. 2).
Install the Chute Crank Rod
-
Remove the Cotter Pin
Remove the cotter pin from the crank rod (manual Fig. 3).
-
Insert the Crank Rod
Pass the crank rod through the center plate and insert it into the opening at the back of the housing. Align the mounting holes (manual Figs. 4–6).
-
Secure the Crank Rod
Reinsert the cotter pin to hold the crank rod in place (manual Figs. 7–8).
Tip: Loosen or tighten the crank adjustment knob as needed for smooth crank rod movement.
Attach the Chute Deflector
-
Position the Deflector
Place the chute deflector over the discharge chute and align the mounting holes. Place a rubber washer between the deflector and the chute at each fastening point (manual Figs. 9–10).
-
Secure the Deflector
Insert the carriage bolts, attach the deflector knobs, and tighten them securely (manual Fig. 11).
-
Check Chute Position
Turn the chute crank clockwise to confirm the discharge chute and deflector are positioned properly. Make sure the deflector is seated securely without a gap.
Final Assembly Check
Check that both handle locks are fastened, the handle knobs and J-bolts are tight, the crank rod cotter pin is installed, and the deflector knobs are secure. Make sure the chute moves smoothly and the wiring is undamaged.
Before operating: Review the electrical safety and operating instructions in the operator’s manual. Never place your hands in the chute or near the auger, and always disconnect power before adjustments.
