Get your Sun Joe TJ603E Electric Tiller + Cultivator ready for use by connecting its three-section handle and securing the power cable. Follow the steps below while the tiller is unplugged.

Before You Begin
Check the carton for these components:
- Electric tiller + cultivator housing with lower handle
- Upper handle
- Middle handle
- Four handle knobs and bolts (two sets)
- Operator’s manual with registration card
Safety first: Keep the tiller unplugged and the switch in the OFF (O) position throughout assembly. Do not connect power until assembly is complete. Never use a partially assembled unit or one with damaged components. Keep hands and feet away from the blades.
Assemble Your Tiller + Cultivator

Attach the Cable Clip
Attach the cable clip to the middle handle bar as shown in the operator’s manual (Fig. 1). Keep the clip accessible for securing the cable after the handle is assembled.

Prepare the Handle Fasteners
Remove the bolts from the four handle knobs and keep all parts together. You will use one pair to attach the middle handle and the other pair to attach the upper handle.

Connect the Middle Handle to the Lower Handle
Align the middle handle with the lower handle. Insert the first pair of bolts and secure them with the handle knobs on both sides. Tighten the knobs to ensure a secure fit (Fig. 2, fasteners marked A).

Connect the Upper Handle to the Middle Handle
Align the upper handle with the middle handle. Install the second pair of bolts and knobs on both sides, then tighten securely (Fig. 3, fasteners marked B).

Secure the Power Cable
Place the power cable inside the cable clip attached to the middle handle (Fig. 4). Check that the cable is held neatly and is not pinched or stretched by the handle assembly.
Final Assembly Check
Confirm that all four handle knobs are tightened, the upper and middle handles are firmly attached, and the power cable is secured inside its clip. The tiller must be fully assembled before connecting power. Review the operator’s manual for the approved outdoor extension cord and cord-restraint setup before operation.
