Sun Joe cordless tillers and cultivators in this category use the 24V IONMAX battery system.
Some models operate with one 24V battery, while larger models use two 24V batteries together. The right charger depends on the battery setup for your exact model.
First, Identify Your Tiller's Battery Setup
| Tiller Setup | Example | Charging |
|---|---|---|
| Single 24V IONMAX Battery | 24V-TLR-LTE and other single-battery 24V cordless tillers + cultivators | Charge the battery with a compatible 24V IONMAX charger. |
| Two 24V IONMAX Batteries | 24V-X2-TLR14 48V cordless tiller + cultivator | Both 24V batteries are charged using compatible 24V IONMAX charging equipment. A dual-port charger allows both batteries to be connected for charging. |
Which Charger Should I Use?
24VCHRG-QC
The 24VCHRG-QC Quick Charger is designed for charging one compatible 24V IONMAX battery at a time.
The current charger product information lists it as compatible with the IONMAX 24V battery family.
24VCHRG-DPC
The 24VCHRG-DPC Dual-Port Quick Charger provides two charging ports for compatible 24V IONMAX batteries.
This can be especially convenient for cordless tillers that operate with two 24V batteries.
Quick Charger Comparison
| Charger | Best For | Charging Setup |
|---|---|---|
| 24VCHRG-QC | Charging one compatible 24V IONMAX battery | Single-battery quick-charge dock |
| 24VCHRG-DPC | Charging up to two compatible 24V IONMAX batteries | Dual-port quick-charge dock |
Charging time varies by battery capacity and charger. Use the charging information for your exact battery and charger rather than applying one charge time to every IONMAX battery.
What About the 24V-TLR-LTE?
The 24V-TLR-LTE uses one 24V IONMAX battery. The current kit includes a 2.0 Ah battery and charger.
Its operator's manual also lists the following 24V IONMAX charging options:
- 24VCHRG-QC — Quick Charger
- 24VCHRG-DPC — Dual-Port Charger
The manual notes that charge times vary depending on the charger and battery being used.
What About the 24V-X2-TLR14?
The 24V-X2-TLR14 operates with two 24V IONMAX batteries to provide its 48V power setup.
The current 24V-X2-TLR14 kit includes two 2.0 Ah batteries and a dual-port charger.
The approved product page states that the included dual-port charger can charge the two included batteries in approximately 55 minutes.
Will My Older ICHRG24-AC Plug-In Charger Work?
Older 24V batteries and chargers may use a different plug-in charging connection. Newer batteries have a smaller charging entry point for plug-in chargers.
If you have an older ICHRG24-AC, use the 24VCHRG-QC Quick Charger for newer IONMAX batteries instead.
The current 24VCHRG-QC product information lists compatibility with the current IONMAX battery models as well as backwards compatibility with listed iBAT24 battery models.
Can I Use a Dual-Port Charger with a Single-Battery Tiller?
Yes. The 24VCHRG-DPC is a charger for compatible 24V IONMAX batteries. A tiller does not need to use two batteries for its battery to be charged on the dual-port charger.
The number of batteries required to operate the tool and the number of charging ports on the charger are separate. Always follow the battery requirements for your exact tiller model.
