Assembling your Sun Joe 24V-TLR-LTE Cordless Tiller + Cultivator is straightforward: attach the tiller head to the pole, lock it securely, and adjust the pole and auxiliary handle for a comfortable fit. Follow the steps below before first use.

Before You Begin
Unpack your tiller + cultivator and verify that the carton includes:
- Tiller + cultivator head
- Tiller + cultivator pole assembly
- 24V iON+ lithium-ion battery
- 24V iON+ lithium-ion charger
- Operator’s manual with registration card
Safety first: Do not insert the battery until assembly is complete. Keep the battery removed whenever assembling, inspecting, or adjusting the tool. Never use the product partially assembled or with damaged parts. Keep hands and feet away from the tines.
Assemble Your Tiller + Cultivator

Unlock the Tiller Head Lock
Locate the tiller + cultivator head lock at the end of the pole assembly. Make sure the lock is in the unlocked position before attaching the head.

Attach the Tiller Head
Slide the tiller + cultivator head into the end of the pole assembly until it clicks into place (operator’s manual, Fig. 3).

Secure the Head Lock
Flip up the tiller + cultivator head lock to secure the head to the pole (Fig. 4). Confirm the head is firmly attached before continuing.

Adjust the Telescoping Pole
With the battery removed, turn the telescoping lock clockwise to unlock it. Extend or shorten the pole to the minimum length needed to reach the ground comfortably. Turn the lock counterclockwise to secure the pole, then verify it cannot slide (Fig. 6).

Adjust the Auxiliary Handle
Turn the auxiliary handle knob counterclockwise to loosen it. Move the handle to a comfortable position for your height, then tighten the knob to lock it in place (Figs. 7–8). Your forearm should be straight when holding the tool.

Charge the Battery
Charge the included 24V iON+ battery using its compatible charger and the instructions in the operator’s manual. The manual lists an approximate charge time of 1 hour 20 minutes. Disconnect the charger from the outlet before disconnecting it from the battery. Keep the battery out of the tool until you are ready to operate it.
Final Assembly Check
Before inserting the battery, verify that the tiller head lock, telescoping lock, and auxiliary handle knob are securely fastened. Check that the tines and other parts are undamaged and that all attachments are properly fitted. Read the operator’s manual before operating the tool.
Need to Remove the Tiller Head?
Remove the battery first. Unlock the tiller head lock, press the release tabs on both sides, and pull the head away from the pole assembly (manual, Fig. 5).
