Get your Sun Joe TJW24C 24V Cordless Cultivator + Weeder ready for use by attaching the cultivator head, adjusting the telescoping pole and auxiliary handle, and charging the battery. Follow these steps before inserting the battery.

Before You Begin
Check the carton for the following items:
- Cultivator + weeder head
- Cultivator + weeder pole assembly
- Wrench
- 24V iON+ lithium-ion battery
- 24V iON+ lithium-ion charger
- Operator's manual with registration card
Safety first: Keep the battery removed until assembly is complete. Never handle or adjust the blade while the battery is installed. Do not operate a partially assembled or damaged tool. Wear suitable protective equipment and keep bystanders away from the work area.
Assemble Your Cultivator + Weeder

Connect the Cultivator + Weeder Head
With the cultivator + weeder head lock unlocked, insert the head into the end of the pole assembly until it clicks into place (Fig. 3).

Secure the Head Lock
Flip up the cultivator + weeder head lock to lock the head in place (Fig. 4). Gently check that the connection is secure before continuing.

Adjust the Telescoping Pole
With the battery removed, turn the telescoping lock clockwise to unlock the pole. Slide the pole sections together to shorten or apart to lengthen, using only the minimum length needed to reach the ground (Fig. 6). Turn the lock counterclockwise to secure it. Verify that the pole cannot slide during use.

Position the Auxiliary Handle
Turn the handle knob counterclockwise to loosen it (Fig. 7). Move the auxiliary handle to a comfortable position for your height (Fig. 8), then tighten the knob to lock it in place. Your forearm should be straight when holding the tool.
Charge and Install the Battery

Charge the Battery
With the battery removed from the tool, plug the supplied charger into a suitable outlet and connect its plug to the battery's charging socket (Fig. 2). A full charge takes approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes. When all three battery LEDs are illuminated, unplug the charger from the wall outlet first, then disconnect it from the battery.

Insert the Battery
Once assembly is complete and all locks are secure, slide the charged battery into the battery compartment until it clicks and locks into position (Fig. 9). Keep fingers clear of the On/Off switch while installing it.
Final Assembly Check
Before operating, verify that the head lock is engaged, the telescoping pole lock is tight, and the auxiliary handle is secure. Inspect the blade and guard for damage and remove stones, sticks, wire, and other debris from the work area. For starting and stopping instructions, review the operator's manual. Always remove the battery before making further adjustments.
Removing the head later: Remove the battery, unlock the head lock, press both releasing tabs, and pull the head away from the pole assembly (Fig. 5).
