If your Sun Joe CJ602E Electric Wood Chipper + Shredder will not restart, check the hopper connection, removable safety switch, power connection, and overload protection before trying to operate it again.
Before You Restart
Safety first: Move the removable safety switch to OFF and disconnect the chipper from the power supply before checking the hopper or clearing a blockage.
The cutting blades can continue rotating for a few seconds after the unit is switched off. Keep your hands away from the feeding funnel and ejection slot until the chipper has stopped completely.
What Can Prevent the CJ602E from Restarting?
How to Restart the CJ602E
-
Switch Off and Disconnect Power
Move the removable safety switch to OFF, unplug the chipper, and wait for all moving parts to stop completely before checking the unit.
-
Check for a Blockage
If the chipper stopped while shredding, check for chips, branches, or other material that may be causing a blockage. Keep the unit disconnected from power while clearing material and wear protective gloves.
-
Close and Secure the Hopper
Make sure the hopper is fully closed and properly seated. Turn the hopper locking knob clockwise until the hopper is secured.
The CJ602E will not run if the hopper is open or is not closed tightly.
-
Reseat the Removable Safety Switch
Remove the safety switch completely, then firmly reinsert it until it is properly seated. Leave the switch in the OFF position until you are ready to restart the chipper.
-
Check the Power Connection
Confirm that the chipper is connected to a working receptacle and inspect the extension cord for visible damage. Do not use a damaged extension cord.
-
Reset the Overload Protection
If the overload protection was activated, allow at least 1 minute before restarting. Press the circuit overload reset button, then push the removable safety switch to ON.
If the chipper stopped after repeated rapid start-and-stop cycling: allow the motor to cool for at least 5 minutes before attempting to restart it.
When Should I Stop Using the Chipper?
Disconnect the CJ602E from power immediately if it begins sparking or smoking. Do not operate the unit.
If the chipper develops excessive vibration or unusual noise, switch it off, disconnect it from power, and do not continue operating it if the cause cannot be safely resolved.
If the CJ602E still will not restart after the checks above, do not attempt electrical or internal motor repairs. Faults not resolved through the listed troubleshooting steps should be handled by qualified service personnel.
