Is your Sun Joe cordless weed sweeper not turning on? The unit has a safety feature that prevents it from starting when the battery is not inserted correctly. Follow these checks to make sure the battery is charged and installed properly and that you are using the correct starting sequence.
How to Start Your Weed Sweeper
-
Check the Battery Charge
Press the battery's charge-indicator button to check its charge level. If the battery is low or empty, charge it with the compatible charger before trying again.
-
Insert the Battery Securely
Slide the battery pack into the battery compartment on the handle until it clicks into place. An improperly seated battery can prevent the weed sweeper from turning on.
-
Use the Safety Lock and Trigger
Push the safety lock forward with your thumb, then squeeze the trigger. Once the weed sweeper starts, release the safety lock while continuing to hold the trigger.
-
Check for Debris Around the Brush
If the sweeper still does not operate, release the trigger, remove the battery, and inspect the brush area for accumulated weeds or debris. Clear any obstruction before trying again. The brush should be able to rotate freely.
Safety reminder: Always switch off the weed sweeper and remove the battery before inspecting or cleaning the brush. Wear gloves when working near the wire brush, and never touch a moving brush. Do not use the tool in rain or wet conditions.
Still Not Turning On?
If the battery is charged and securely installed, the safety lock and trigger are used correctly, and the brush is free of debris, stop troubleshooting and contact Shop Joe Customer Care for assistance. Do not bypass or modify the safety lock.
