Get your Sun Joe 24V-X2-17LM Cordless Lawn Mower ready for use by raising and securing the handle and fitting the grass collection bag. Complete assembly before installing the batteries or safety key.

Before You Begin
Locate the mower with its lower handle assembly, upper handle assembly, two knobs and bolts, cable clip, grass collection bag, safety key, and mulching plug (preinstalled in the rear discharge opening). Check all components for damage or missing parts.
Safety first: Do not insert the batteries until assembly is complete. Keep both batteries and the safety key removed during assembly or adjustments. Do not operate a partially assembled or damaged mower.
Assemble Your Lawn Mower

Raise the Lower Handle
The lower handle arrives folded into its storage position. Lift it to the desired height and tighten the preassembled knobs to secure it (operator’s manual, Fig. 5).

Attach the Upper Handle
Fit the upper handle onto the lower handle. Align the holes, insert the two supplied bolts, and tighten the knobs onto the bolts (Fig. 6).

Secure the Cable
Use the supplied cable clip to keep the cable against the handle. Check that the cable is not pinched, pulled tight, or caught between handle sections.

Remove the Mulching Plug for Bagging
Lift the rear ejector flap and remove the mulching plug from the rear discharge opening before attaching the grass collection bag.

Fit the Grass Collection Bag
Keep the ejector flap raised. Hold the bag by its handle and hook it from above onto the hooks on both sides of the mower (Fig. 7).

Lower the Ejector Flap
Release the ejector flap carefully so it rests on top of the installed grass collection bag (Fig. 8).
Using the mulching plug instead? Do not attach the grass collection bag. Lift the ejector flap, insert the mulching plug fully into the rear discharge opening, check that it is seated securely, and release the flap (Fig. 9).
Final Assembly Check
Confirm the lower handle knobs and upper handle fasteners are tight, the cable is secured, and either the grass collection bag is properly hooked in place or the mulching plug is fully inserted. Keep batteries and safety key removed until assembly is complete and you are ready to follow the operating instructions.
