Get your Sun Joe MJ401C Cordless Lawn Mower ready for mowing by assembling the handle and fitting the grass collection bag. Follow these steps with the safety key removed.

Before You Begin
Check the carton for the following items:
- Cordless lawn mower
- Grass collection bag and grass collection bag support rod
- Upper and lower handles
- Two upper-handle knob and bolt assemblies
- Two lower-handle screws and two additional screws
- Two cable clips and a spanner
- Battery charger
- Operator’s manual with registration card
Safety first: Do not insert the safety key until assembly is complete. Remove the safety key before any maintenance or adjustment. Do not operate the mower if it is only partially assembled or if any parts are damaged.
Assemble the Handle

Install the Lower Handle
Fit the lower handle into the two holes in the mower body. Fasten the handle on both sides using the supplied lower-handle screws (Fig. 1).

Connect the Upper Handle
Join the upper handle to the lower handle using the supplied bolt, plastic washer, and knob. Repeat on the opposite side and secure both connections (Fig. 2).
Assemble and Fit the Grass Collection Bag

Insert the Bag Support Rod
Fit the support rod into the holes in the grass bag’s plastic cover. The bend in the rod must face the rear of the mower (Fig. 3).

Secure the Protective Straps
Place the grass bag’s protective plastic straps onto the support rod (Fig. 4).

Attach the Grass Collection Bag
Lift the ejector flap with one hand. With the other hand, hold the bag by its handle and hook it into place from above (Fig. 5).

Secure the Bag
Gently release the ejector flap to hold the grass collection bag in position (Fig. 6).
Final Assembly Check
Confirm the lower and upper handles are securely fastened, the grass bag support rod and protective straps are fitted correctly, and the grass collection bag is firmly seated beneath the ejector flap. Keep the safety key removed until assembly is complete and you are ready to follow the operating instructions.
Before Your First Mow
Read the Charging Procedure and Starting + Stopping sections in the operator’s manual before use. Use only the charger supplied for the mower and follow the manual’s charging instructions. Never reach near the blade while it is moving.
