Ready to set up your Sun Joe 24V-PHT17-LTE Cordless Telescoping Pole Hedge Trimmer? Follow these steps to connect the trimmer head to the telescoping pole and secure it before use.

Before You Begin
Check the carton for the following items:
- Cordless hedge trimmer head
- Rear handle with telescoping pole
- Blade cover
- Shoulder strap
- 24V iON+ lithium-ion battery and charger
- Operator’s manual with registration card
Safety first: Do not install the battery until assembly is complete. Keep the blade covered while assembling the tool. Never use a partly assembled trimmer or one with damaged or missing parts.
Assemble Your Pole Hedge Trimmer

Align the Pole and Trimmer Head
Position the telescoping pole in line with the trimmer head, as shown in Figure 3 of the operator’s manual.

Insert the Telescoping Pole
Push the telescoping pole into the trimmer head’s locking base until the lock holes click into place (manual, Figure 3). Ensure the pole is inserted fully.

Secure the Locking Collar
Slide the locking collar onto the locking base and turn it clockwise until secure (manual, Figure 4).

Check Handle Alignment
Make sure the rear handle is properly aligned with the blade. Verify that the pole is fully inserted and the locking collar is tightened before proceeding.
Final Assembly Check
Before operating: Confirm the pole-to-head connection is secure and cannot separate, the locking collar is tight, and the trimmer is fully assembled. Attach the shoulder strap following the manual’s Fitting the Shoulder Strap instructions. Charge the battery using its compatible charger, and install it only when you are ready to use the tool.
Important: The operator’s manual warns that an improperly locked telescoping pole can cause serious injury or death. Always verify the connection before use. Remove the battery before making any adjustments.
