The Sun Joe HJ604C includes interchangeable grass-shear and hedge-trimmer blades. Follow these steps to remove one blade and install the other safely.

Before Changing the Blade
Power the tool off and wear protective gloves before handling either blade. Keep your hands away from the cutting edges throughout the procedure.
How to Change the Blade
Remove the blade cover
Place the tool on a hard surface and turn it upside down. Gently lift the blade-cover tab, then slide the tab back until the cover can be removed.
Remove the installed blade
Gently lift the end tip of the blade away from the tool and remove the blade from the motor housing.
Insert the desired blade
Place the grass-shear or hedge-trimmer blade into the base of the motor housing.
Align the gear shaft and lugs
Align the gear shaft in the center of the blade with the gear in the center of the unit. Align all four lugs so the blade sits flat against the housing. If needed, manually reposition the blade or gear shaft until the gears align.
Reinstall the blade cover
Align the blade cover with the slots on the base of the motor housing. Push the cover forward until it slides and clicks securely into place.

Before Using the Tool
Confirm that the blade lies flat and the blade cover is fully seated and locked. Do not operate the tool if the blade or cover is loose, damaged, or cannot be installed securely.
