If your Aqua Joe oscillating sprinkler has reduced water flow, uneven spray, or clogged nozzles, debris may have collected in the inlet filter, oscillator tube, or spray nozzles.
Follow these maintenance steps for Aqua Joe oscillating sprinklers equipped with an inlet filter and cleaning pin.
When Should I Clean My Sprinkler?
Clean the sprinkler if it stops working properly or the spray quality decreases because of dirt or debris buildup.
Aqua Joe oscillating sprinklers equipped with an inlet filter and cleaning pin are designed so these components can be cleaned to help maintain water flow and clear clogged spray nozzles.
How to Clean + Maintain the Sprinkler
-
Remove the Inlet Filter
Remove the inlet filter from the hose-end of the oscillator.
Rinse the inlet filter under clean running water to remove dirt and debris.
-
Remove the Cleaning Pin
Remove the supplied cleaning pin from the opposite end of the oscillator.
Keep the cleaning pin nearby so it can be used to clear the spray nozzles after the sprinkler is flushed.
-
Flush the Oscillator
Connect the sprinkler to a spigot and turn on the water.
While the water continues running, gently move the oscillator tube back and forth for a few minutes to help flush dirt and debris from the sprinkler.
-
Reinstall the Inlet Filter
After flushing the sprinkler, screw the inlet filter firmly back into place at the hose-end.
-
Clear Clogged Spray Nozzles
Use the provided cleaning pin to carefully clear debris from any clogged spray nozzles.
-
Return the Cleaning Pin
When cleaning is complete, fit the cleaning pin firmly back into its storage position before using the sprinkler.
Maintenance reminder: Current Aqua Joe oscillating sprinkler product pages identify the inlet filter and cleaning pin as maintenance features intended to help maintain smooth water flow and clear debris or nozzle clogs.
How Should I Store My Sprinkler?
Drain the sprinkler after use.
Do not allow water to remain inside the sprinkler and freeze. The official sprinkler guides specifically instruct users to drain the sprinkler after use and to prevent water from freezing inside it.
Does This Apply to Every Lawn Sprinkler?
This procedure is intended for Aqua Joe oscillating sprinkler models equipped with an inlet filter and cleaning pin.
Other sprinkler types in the Aqua Joe lineup, such as impulse, rotating, or tripod sprinklers, may use different components and maintenance procedures.
