Follow these steps to assemble your Snow Joe RJ204M 21-Foot Twist-N-Lock Telescoping Snow Shovel Roof Rake. You'll attach the rake head, secure the support braces, and adjust the telescoping handle.

Before You Begin
Lay the components on a clean, flat surface. Confirm that you have the telescoping handle, roof rake head, two metal braces, two short hex screws, one long hex screw, locking nut, hex key wrench, and open-end wrench (manual page 2).
Safety first: Assemble and inspect the roof rake before use. Always operate it while standing securely on the ground, away from overhead electrical lines and falling snow or ice. Never climb onto a roof to use the rake.
Assemble the Roof Rake

Remove the Shipping Cap
Remove the shipping cap from the top of the pole and save it for storage (manual Fig. 1).

Expose the Handle Holes
Unscrew the handle knob and extend the pole until the small holes are visible (manual Fig. 2).

Connect the Handle to the Rake Head
Press the small buttons at the end of the handle and insert the handle into the roof rake head. Check that the buttons engage securely (manual Fig. 3).

Attach the Two Metal Braces
Position both braces against the rake head. Use the hex key wrench and the two short hex screws to fasten the braces to the head (manual Fig. 4).

Secure the Braces to the Pole
Align the braces with the hole in the pole. Pass the long hex screw through both braces and the pole, then secure it with the locking nut using the open-end wrench (manual Fig. 5).

Adjust the Telescoping Handle
Turn the handle knob clockwise to loosen, extend the pole to the desired length, then turn the knob counterclockwise to lock it (manual Fig. 6).
Hardware reminder: The two short screws secure the braces to the rake head; the single long screw and locking nut secure the braces to the pole. The original article identifies these as M5 × 10 mm (short) and M5 × 30 mm (long).
Final Assembly Check
Before using the roof rake, confirm that the handle buttons are engaged, both braces are firmly attached, all three screws and the locking nut are secure, and each telescoping knob holds its position. The rake head should not wobble or shift.
The telescoping handle adjusts from approximately 6.2 ft to 21 ft. Choose a manageable length and remain on stable ground while clearing snow.
