Proper storage helps protect your Snow Joe electric snow shovel between uses and during the off-season. Before putting the shovel away, inspect the unit and extension cord, disconnect it from power, and store it in a clean, dry location.
This guide is intended for corded electric Snow Joe snow shovels. Cordless models that use lithium-ion batteries require additional battery storage steps found in their model-specific operator's manual.
Before Storing Your Electric Snow Shovel
Safety first: Before inspecting, cleaning, or storing the snow shovel, switch the unit off, disconnect it from the power supply, and wait for all moving parts to come to a complete stop.
After clearing snow: Before shutting the shovel down for storage, the operator's manuals recommend running the machine for a few minutes after throwing snow. This helps prevent the rotor blades from freezing.
How to Store + Winterize Your Electric Snow Shovel
-
Inspect the Snow Shovel
Examine the electric snow shovel thoroughly for worn, loose, or damaged parts before storing it.
Do not continue using the shovel if you find damage that could affect safe operation.

Inspect the Extension Cord
Check the extension cord thoroughly for excessive wear, cuts, damaged insulation, or other visible damage.
If the extension cord is worn or damaged, replace it before the next use.
-
Disconnect the Extension Cord

-
Store the Cord with the Snow Shovel
Keep the extension cord with the snow shovel so it is less likely to become misplaced or damaged while the unit is stored.

Store the Shovel Indoors
Store the electric snow shovel and extension cord indoors in a clean, dry, and locked location.
Keep the unit out of the reach of children and animals.
-
Cover the Snow Shovel for Added Protection
