1. Drain After Every Use

• Why: Water left inside can lead to mildew, algae growth, or freezing in cold weather.

• How: After turning off the water, lift and walk the hose from one end to the other to fully drain it.

2. Roll It After Use

• Why: Rolling the hose helps prevent tangles, kinks, and cracking. It also keeps your storage area neat and extends hose life.

• How: Coil the hose loosely in large loops (preferably on a hose reel or hanger). Avoid tight or sharp bends.

3. Store Properly

• Keep it coiled and off the ground: Prevents dirt buildup and wear.

• Shade it: Prolonged sun exposure can weaken and crack the material. Store it in a shaded area or inside a shed or garage.

4. Avoid Kinks

• Don’t pull from a distance: Walk the hose out to your work area.

• Use hose guides around sharp corners to minimize bending.

5. Inspect Regularly

• Check for cracks, leaks, or bulges.

   

6. Clean Occasionally

• Flush the hose with clean water.

• For mildew, use a water-vinegar mix and rinse thoroughly.

7. Winterize Before Freezing Weather

• Drain completely.

• Disconnect from spigot and store indoors or in a dry, protected area.

8. Avoid Heavy Pressure or Weight
