The 20V ECOSHARP® (X20) Battery Platform

The 20V ECOSHARP® (X20) platform is designed for compact tools that prioritize ease of use, maneuverability, and reliable performance for everyday tasks.

Typical 20V ECOSHARP® Battery Specifications

• Battery Voltage: 20V MAX* D.C.
• Battery Capacity: Up to 5.0 Ah
• Battery Type: ECOSHARP® lithium-ion
• Charge Time: Approximately 6–7 hours
• Charger Output: 20V D.C.

*Initial no-load voltage peaks at 20V; nominal voltage under typical load is 18V.

Understanding Amp-Hour (Ah) Ratings

Amp-hour (Ah) ratings indicate how long a battery can run, not how powerful it is.

• Higher Ah = longer runtime
• Voltage must always match your tool
• You can safely use higher-Ah batteries within the same platform

Example:
A 24V tool can use 2.0-Ah, 4.0-Ah, or 5.0-Ah 24V IONMAX® batteries.

Battery Charge Indicators

Snow Joe + Sun Joe batteries include built-in LED charge indicators that show the remaining battery level at a glance. The number of indicator lights varies by battery model.

3-Stage LED Display

(Common on many 24V IONMAX® batteries)

• 3 lights on: High charge

• 2 lights on: Medium charge

• 1 light on: Low charge — recharge recommended

4-Stage LED Display

(Common on 20V ECOSHARP® (X20) batteries)

• 4 lights on: 100% charge

• 3 lights on: ~75% charge

• 2 lights on: ~50% charge

• 1 light on: ~25% charge

Charging & Temperature Tips

Lithium-ion batteries are sensitive to extreme temperatures.

If a Battery Is Too Cold or Too Hot

• Batteries that are very cold or hot may not charge or operate
• Allow the battery to rest indoors for 30–60 minutes before charging or using
• This helps protect the battery and extend its lifespan

General Charging Tips

• Use only the charger designed for your battery platform
• Charge batteries indoors in a dry location
• Batteries do not need to be fully discharged before charging

Important Compatibility Information

Although all Snow Joe + Sun Joe batteries use lithium-ion technology, battery platforms are not interchangeable.

• 24V batteries work only with 24V IONMAX® tools
• 20V batteries work only with 20V ECOSHARP® tools
• Legacy platforms (20V ION, 40V, 100V) work only with tools designed for those systems

Always match the voltage and platform printed on your tool.
