Scarifying uses the blade cylinder to scratch through and between the grass, helping aerate the soil surface. Dethatching uses the spring tine cylinder to rake the lawn surface and lift thatch and light debris. How often should I dethatch or rake my lawn? The manual recommends raking or aerating every 4–6 weeks depending on the condition of the lawn. When is the best time to scarify? Scarify during spring between April and May when the lawn can recover more easily. If the summer is wet, scarify again in late summer with a decreased depth setting. Do not scarify during periods of hot weather. Can I use the AJ805E on wet grass? No. The manual advises not to use the machine on wet grass because wet material can stick to the underside, block discharge, overload the motor, and increase the risk of slipping. Is the AJ805E for commercial use? No. The AJ805E is intended for private domestic use only and should not be used for commercial trade use. What replacement accessories are available?
