Safety Before Trimming
- Wear eye and hearing protection, gloves, non-slip footwear, long pants, and snug-fitting clothing.
- Keep children, pets, and bystanders at least 50 ft (15 m) away.
- Inspect the area and remove stones, wire, glass, and other debris that the blade may throw.
- Do not use in rain, wet locations, around flammable materials, or near electrical wires.
- Keep hands, feet, clothing, and the battery away from the cutting area.
Charge the Battery
-
Remove the battery
Press both push-lock buttons and slide the battery out of the tool.
-
Connect the charger
Plug the charger into a matching indoor AC outlet, then connect its plug to the battery charging socket.
-
Watch the indicators
The LEDs twinkle and illuminate one by one while charging. Three lit LEDs indicate a high charge, two indicate decreasing charge, and one indicates the battery should be charged.
-
Disconnect when full
When all three LEDs remain illuminated, unplug the charger from the outlet and then disconnect the battery.
Assemble the Trimmer
-
Install the auxiliary handle
Remove its knob and bolt, position the handle, align the holes, and secure it with the bolt and knob.
-
Install the safety guard
Remove the four preassembled screws, position the guard over the motor housing, align the holes, and reinstall all four screws securely.
-
Attach the storage compartment
Snap it onto the pole with the correct side facing up so stored blades cannot fall out.
-
Install the selected blade
Follow the blade-specific instructions below and confirm it is fully seated before installing the battery.
Install or Change a Blade
| Blade | Best Use |
|---|---|
| SharperBlade mini blade | Stringless trimming, edging, hard-to-reach mowing, sweeping, and scalping |
| Grass blade | Quick trimming and post-mowing touch-ups |
-
For the SharperBlade
Turn the screw knob counterclockwise and remove it with the washer. Position the blade with the washer in the middle, then tighten the knob clockwise.
-
For a grass blade
Place the large blade notch over the trimmer-plate knob, then pull until the knob snaps into the small notch.
-
Check the installation
Confirm the blade is secure and undamaged before inserting the battery.
Start, Adjust, and Convert
-
Install the battery
Slide the charged battery into the compartment until it clicks.
-
Start in the correct sequence
Press and hold the safety button, squeeze the ON/OFF switch, then release the safety button while continuing to hold the switch.
-
Stop the blade
Release the switch and wait for a complete stop before setting the tool down.
-
Adjust the shaft
Remove the battery, loosen the telescoping knob, adjust to a comfortable height, and tighten the knob securely.
-
Convert to edger mode
With the battery removed, slide the Twist-N-Groom collar down, rotate the handle clockwise 180 degrees, release the collar, and confirm it locks. Reposition the auxiliary handle if needed.
Operation Guide
| Task | Guidance |
|---|---|
| Trimming | Use a grass blade for quick trimming and touch-ups. Hold the head above the ground and let only the blade contact grass. |
| Scalping | Use the SharperBlade about 3 in. (8 cm) above the ground and work carefully. Scalping increases blade wear. |
| Mowing | Keep the SharperBlade parallel to the ground in areas a mower cannot reach. Do not press the head into the ground. |
| Sweeping | Keep the blade parallel to and above the surface and move side to side. |
| Edging | Use the guard as a guide along sidewalks, flower beds, walls, and fences while keeping the blade off hard surfaces. |
Maintenance and Storage
-
Remove power
Switch off, remove the battery, wait for the blade to stop, and let the motor cool.
-
Clean after use
Use a soft brush and a cloth dampened with warm water to remove grass, weeds, soil, and debris. Do not spray the tool or use detergents or solvents.
-
Inspect the cutting system
Keep air vents clear and replace a blade that is worn, broken, or no longer cuts effectively.
-
Store indoors
Store in a dry, secure location away from children and extreme temperatures. Hang the tool by the upper handgrip rather than resting it on the guard.
-
Care for the battery
Remove it from the charger during storage and recharge approximately every six months to about 50% capacity or two indicator lights.
Troubleshooting
The trimmer will not start
Check: Battery seating, charge, battery temperature, and starting sequence.
Try: Reinstall until it clicks, charge if needed, let the battery reach room temperature, and press the safety button before squeezing the switch.
The tool vibrates
Check: Debris around the blade slots or a blade that is worn, damaged, or incorrectly seated.
Try: Remove the battery, clean the blade area, reinstall securely, and replace a damaged blade. Stop using the tool if vibration continues.
Cutting performance is weak
Check: Low battery, blade wear, thick growth, excessive force, or blocked vents.
Try: Charge fully, replace worn blades, use lighter passes, and clean the blade area and vents.
The blade wears too quickly
Try: Reduce pressure, keep the blade just off concrete, brick, and stone, and allow the blade to cut without forcing it.
The battery will not charge
Check: Outlet power, charger and socket connections, and battery/charger temperature.
Try: Reconnect everything and charge indoors at room temperature. If it still will not charge, contact support.
