Assembly
Keep the unit disconnected from power until assembly is complete. Inspect the hoses, fittings, and electrical cord before use. Do not use damaged components or attempt to mend a damaged high-pressure hose.
- Install the top handle. Slide the handle into the top of the pressure washer and secure it with the two supplied screws.
- Install the trigger gun holder. Slide the holder into its mounting position on the unit.
- Install the cord holder. Slide the cord holder into its mounting position.
- Install both wheels. Press the wheels into position on either side of the pressure washer.
- Connect the spray wand. Insert the wand into the trigger gun and twist clockwise to lock the connection.
- Connect the high-pressure hose. Secure one end to the trigger gun and the other end to the pressure washer water outlet. Tighten both connections securely.
- Attach the garden hose. Connect the garden hose adapter to the pressure washer water inlet, then thread the garden hose into the adapter. Use a reinforced garden hose with an internal diameter of at least 1/2 in.
- Connect to the water supply. Attach the other end of the garden hose to the water supply and check that the connections are secure.
Water supply: Use clean, cold water. The inlet temperature must not exceed 104°F / 40°C, and the inlet pressure must not exceed 101 PSI.
Getting Started + Operation
Protect yourself and the work area. Wear eye protection, hearing protection, protective gloves, snug-fitting clothing, and non-slip footwear. Never point the spray at people, pets, live electrical equipment, or the pressure washer.
Keep electrical connections dry and off the ground. Do not touch the plug with wet hands or spray electrical wiring and equipment.
- Position the washer. Place the unit upright on a secure, stable surface, as close as practical to the water supply.
- Check the power switch. Make sure it is in the OFF (0) position before connecting to power.
- Connect to power. Plug the power cord into the outlet. If needed, press the GFCI RESET button until its power indicator illuminates.
- Open the water supply. Turn the water supply tap fully on.
- Prime the system. Release the trigger safety lock and hold the trigger for a few seconds until the water flow is steady.
- Start the pressure washer. Turn the switch to ON (I). Keep the trigger pressed when restarting the motor.
Total Stop System: Releasing the trigger automatically stops the motor and pump. This helps save energy and protect the pump during normal operation.
Choosing + Changing Nozzles

Never change a nozzle while the trigger is engaged. Turn off the pressure washer, shut off the water supply, pull the trigger to release pressure, and engage the safety lock before attaching or removing a nozzle.
To attach a nozzle: Pull back the brass Quick-Connect collar, insert the selected nozzle, and release the collar until the nozzle clicks into place.
To remove a nozzle: With the unit shut down and pressure released as described above, pull back the brass Quick-Connect collar and remove the nozzle.
Using the Foam Cannon
Use pressure-washer-rated detergent only. Do not use household detergents, acids, alkaline solutions, bleach, chlorine products, ammonia products, solvents, flammable materials, or industrial-grade cleaning solutions.
- Remove the foam cannon from storage. Gently pull the bottle out of its onboard storage position.
- Prepare the detergent. Remove the cap and fill or mix the detergent according to its label instructions. Secure the cap afterward.
- Attach the foam cannon. Turn off the washer, shut off the water supply, release pressure, and engage the trigger safety lock. Remove any attached nozzle, pull back the brass Quick-Connect collar, insert the foam cannon, and release the collar until it clicks into place.
- Apply detergent. Restore the water supply and restart the washer using the starting procedure above. Apply detergent from the bottom to the top of the dry surface.
- Adjust the spray when needed. Release the trigger before making adjustments. Rotate the foam cannon nozzle to change the spray angle from 0° to 45°, or rotate the adjustable cap to change the foam volume.
- Rinse before detergent dries. Let the detergent remain briefly without allowing it to dry. Shut down and release pressure before replacing the foam cannon with a suitable rinse nozzle. Wash and rinse one small section at a time.
- Clean the foam cannon after use. Drain and rinse the bottle, then run clean water through the foam cannon until the soap is cleared.
Pressure-washer-rated cleaning options include Sun Joe® House + Deck All-Purpose Concentrated Cleaner (SPX-HDC1G) and Sun Joe® All-Purpose Heavy Duty Cleaner + Degreaser (SPX-APC1G). Follow the selected detergent’s label instructions.
Do not adjust the foam cannon while the trigger is engaged. Release the trigger before changing the spray angle or foam volume.
Shutting Down
Turn the switch to OFF (0) and unplug the power cord. Shut off the water supply, then hold the trigger to release the remaining pressure. Disconnect the garden hose from the water inlet and the high-pressure hose from the trigger gun. Release the trigger and engage the safety lock.
Taking a break of 5 minutes or more? Engage the trigger safety lock, turn the switch OFF, and unplug the power cord.
Maintenance, Care + Storage
Shut down before inspecting or cleaning. Turn off and unplug the pressure washer, shut off the water supply, and release the remaining pressure before disconnecting or checking components.
Routine Care
- Clean the garden hose adapter filter. Remove the filter from the adapter and rinse it with warm water to clear dirt and debris.
- Clean the nozzle. Remove it from the spray wand. Use the included needle clean-out tool to clear the nozzle opening, then rinse the nozzle.
- Inspect hoses and connections. Check the hoses, fittings, couplings, and power cord before use. Keep hoses away from sharp objects and do not operate with damaged hoses or electrical cords.
Storage + Winterizing
Do not allow the pump to freeze. Store the pressure washer indoors in a dry, covered, frost-free area. Freeze damage is not covered by the warranty.
- Disconnect the water connections. After shutting down and releasing pressure, remove the water supply and hose connections.
- Empty remaining water. Drain the hoses and foam cannon bottle. For the brief pump-draining procedure, run the washer for only a few seconds until the remaining water exits, then switch it off immediately and unplug it.
- Protect the high-pressure hose. Store it without kinks, sharp bends, or other restrictions.
- Store the machine and accessories indoors. Choose a room that does not reach freezing temperatures.
- Flush before reuse. If a pump protector or antifreeze was used, completely flush the unit with clean water before the next use.
Long-term pump protection: A pump protector, pump saver, or non-corrosive, non-toxic antifreeze is recommended for winter storage. Continue to store the unit in a frost-free location.
Troubleshooting
Disconnect power before hands-on checks. Turn off and unplug the washer, shut off the water supply, and release pressure before cleaning a nozzle, removing a filter, or checking hose connections. Reconnect only when the unit is correctly reassembled and ready for an operating test.
Machine Refuses to Start
Possible Causes
- The unit is not receiving power.
- The power outlet is not working.
- The circuit breaker has tripped.
Solutions
- With the switch OFF, make sure the plug is securely connected to a working outlet.
- Check the power cord for damage. If it is damaged, do not use the pressure washer.
- Press the GFCI RESET button if needed and check whether the power indicator illuminates.
- Try a different working outlet and switch off other equipment using the same circuit.
- Before restarting, turn the water supply fully on, release the safety lock, and hold the trigger until the flow is steady. Keep the trigger pressed when turning the washer ON.
Fluctuating Pressure
Possible Causes
- The pump is drawing in air through a hose connection.
- Internal valves or pump seals require service.
Solutions
- Check that the hoses and connections are secure and airtight.
- If pressure continues to fluctuate, contact Shop Joe support for assistance. Do not open the pump housing or attempt to service internal valves or seals.
Machine Pulsating
Possible Causes
- Air is trapped in the inlet hose.
- The water supply is inadequate.
- The nozzle is partially blocked.
- The water inlet filter is blocked.
- A hose is kinked or restricted.
Solutions
- With the water supply connected and fully open, hold the trigger until regular pressure resumes.
- Confirm that the water supply meets the washer’s specifications. Avoid long, thin supply hoses and use a reinforced garden hose with an internal diameter of at least 1/2 in.
- Shut down and release pressure, then clean the nozzle with the needle clean-out tool.
- Remove and rinse the water inlet filter.
- Straighten hose kinks and check for restrictions before restarting.
Machine Starts, but No Water Comes Out
Possible Causes
- The pump, hoses, or accessories are frozen.
- The water supply is disconnected or turned off.
- The water inlet filter is blocked.
- The nozzle is blocked.

- Turn the unit off and allow frozen components to thaw before attempting to use it.
- Connect the water supply and fully open the faucet.
