Never touch or adjust the blade while a battery is installed, and keep both hands away from the cutting area whenever the tool is powered. 1 Inspect Check the tool, blade, and kit parts. 2 Charge Fully charge the 2.0 Ah battery. 3 Secure Confirm the cutting assembly is tight. 4 Prune Switch on, pull the trigger, and cut. Unpacking & Inspection Check the carton contents Confirm the pruner, battery, charger, whetstone, both wrenches, hard shell case, and manual are present. Inspect for shipping damage Examine the housing, switches, battery, charger cable, blade, counter blade, knobs, and case before use. Confirm the blade is secure The cutting blade is pre-installed. With the battery removed and gloves on, verify the blade, cover, lock knob, and locking knob are fully seated and tight. Keep packaging away from children Plastic bags, foils, and small parts can create a suffocation hazard. Battery Charging Remove the battery Press the battery push-lock button and pull the battery out of the compartment. Connect the charger Plug the charger into a suitable AC outlet, then connect the charger plug to the charge socket on the battery. Watch the charger indicator The indicator is red while charging and turns green when charging is complete. Disconnect in the correct order Unplug the charger from the wall outlet first, then disconnect the charger plug from the battery. TIMEMaximum published charge time: approximately 3 hours 30 minutes. TEMPCharge in suitable conditions. The troubleshooting guidance specifies an ambient range of 50°F-104°F (10°C-40°C), with 64.4°F-75.2°F (18°C-24°C) identified as ideal. Starting, Cutting & Stopping Install the charged battery Slide the battery into the compartment until it clicks securely into place. Check the cutting area Make sure the blade is clear of people, animals, wires, and other objects. Wear eye protection and protective gloves. Switch the tool on Press the On/Off switch before touching the trigger. Make one controlled cut Place only one branch within the blade's rated capacity, keep your free hand away, and pull the trigger. Release and press the trigger again for the next cut. Stop the pruner Release the trigger. Wait at least five seconds before restarting to avoid heat buildup and motor damage. Finish safely Switch the tool off, remove the battery, and wait for all movement to stop before cleaning, carrying, or storing it. LIMITNever force the pruner through oversized or unusually hard material. Maximum rated capacity is 28 mm in softwood and 15 mm in hardwood. Pruning Tips 1 Cut one branch at a time Do not bundle stems or crowd several branches into the blade. 2 Leave room above a bud Make the cut at least 0.3 in. (8 mm) above the bud so the wound can heal properly. 3 Slope the cut away Angle the cut away from the bud so rainwater can run off. 4 Remove stems at the branch point When removing an entire stem, cut back to the location where it branches. 5 Keep the cutting path visible Use the LED work light as an aid, but never cut where wires, hard objects, or the branch's far side cannot be checked. Safe Operating Practices 1 Protect your eyes and hands Wear safety glasses with side shields, protective gloves, sturdy footwear, and appropriate work clothing. 2 Keep the free hand away Never hold a branch close to the cutting point or reach between the blade and counter blade. 3 Use only for pruning Use the tool for suitable stems, twigs, and branches within its rated cutting capacities. Do not use it as a general-purpose cutter. 4 Keep the tool dry Do not expose the pruner, battery, or charger to rain, moisture, or wet conditions. 5 Remove the battery before service Disconnect the battery before blade handling, cleaning, inspection, maintenance, transport, or storage. Cutting Blade Replacement STOPPower off, remove the battery, and wear protective gloves before touching the blade. Use only the recommended replacement blade. Remove the locking knob Use the included hex wrench to remove the locking knob that secures the cutting blade. Remove the blade gear Use the included socket wrench to remove the blade gear from the blade lock knob. Open and lay the pruner flat With the blades open, place the pruner on a stable surface and remove the two screws securing the blade cover. Remove the cutting blade Wearing gloves, grasp the cutting blade and pull it away from the blade bolt and counter blade. Install the recommended replacement Reassemble the blade bolt, new cutting blade, and counter blade in the sequence shown in the operator's manual. Ensure the rack gear teeth contact the pinion. Reassemble and check Reinstall the blade cover, blade lock knob, blade gear, and locking knob in reverse order. Confirm the blade is fully seated and every fastener is secure before reinstalling the battery. Blade Sharpening EDGESharpen only the outside, beveled side of the cutting blade. Never sharpen the counter blade or remove material from the cutting blade's flat side. Remove the battery and open the blade Wear protective gloves and hold the open pruner securely with the beveled cutting edge accessible. Set the whetstone angle Place the included whetstone against the beveled edge at approximately 15 degrees. Use one-direction strokes Move smoothly from the base of the blade toward the tip four to five times. Do not use a back-and-forth sawing motion. Remove the burr Turn the pruner over and slide the whetstone flush along the flat side only to remove the burr created during sharpening. Check the result Do not over-sharpen. Inspect the edge frequently and replace a blade that is bent, cracked, heavily worn, or otherwise damaged. Cleaning, Lubrication & Storage STOPSwitch off the pruner and remove the battery before cleaning or maintenance. 1 Remove sap and trimmings Wipe the tool with a soft cloth moistened with mild soap. Do not immerse any part of the pruner or allow liquid inside the housing. 2 Lubricate the center bolt Apply oil around the center bolt, then open and close the tool about ten times to work the oil into the cutting assembly. 3 Inspect the blade and fasteners Do not operate with a loose, dull, bent, cracked, or damaged blade. Confirm the cover, knobs, blade bolt, and gear are secure. 4 Prepare for extended storage Fully charge the battery, clean the pruner, remove the battery, and store the kit in its case in a secure, dry place between 41°F and 104°F (5°C-40°C).
