Assembly
- Remove the end cover. Use the supplied hex key wrench to unscrew the end-cover nut and remove the chain and sprocket end cover.
- Fit the bar and chain. Confirm the sharp side of the teeth faces in the chain-rotation direction, seat the drive links in the bar groove, loop the chain around the sprocket, and align the bar studs and adjusting pin.
- Reinstall the end cover. Insert its rear tab into the slot, position the cover over the bar end, and leave the nut loose enough for the bar to move slightly.
- Set the chain tension. Turn the tensioner clockwise until a cold chain sits snugly against the underside of the bar and can still be moved by hand without binding.
- Secure the assembly. Tighten the end-cover nut completely with the supplied wrench and recheck that the chain moves freely.
- Add bar and chain oil. Remove the oil cap, fill with good-quality bar and chain oil to the top of the oil-level window, and reinstall the cap.
Getting Started
- Prepare the work area. Work only in daylight or good artificial light, clear away hazards, inspect the wood for metal, and keep children, pets, and bystanders at a safe distance.
- Put on protective equipment. Wear safety glasses, hearing protection, heavy-duty gloves, non-slip footwear, close-fitting clothing, and suitable head, face, and leg protection.
- Complete the pre-use checks. Confirm that the bar and chain are correctly installed, sharp, undamaged, and properly tensioned; verify sufficient oil; and make sure all handles, guards, switches, fasteners, and vents are clean and secure.
- Connect an outdoor extension cord. Use the cord restraint hook and connect a suitable outdoor-rated cord to a working 120V GFCI-protected outlet. Use 16 AWG up to 50 ft or 14 AWG from 50 to 100 ft, and never exceed 100 ft.
- Position the saw. Stand on a fixed, secure, level surface, maintain stable footing, hold the saw firmly with both hands, and keep the guide bar clear of the ground and all objects.
- Start the chain saw. Press and hold the safety lock button with your thumb, then squeeze the trigger switch.
- Make the cut safely. Let the chain reach full speed, keep the saw below shoulder height, maintain two-handed control, and use light, steady pressure without forcing the tool.
- Stop and secure the saw. Release the trigger, wait for the chain to stop completely, unplug the unit, allow it to cool, clean away debris, and install the bar sheath.
Maintenance, Care & Storage
- Unplug the chain saw and wait for all moving parts to stop before inspection, adjustment, cleaning, maintenance, or storage.
- Check chain tension before each use while the chain is cold. A new chain stretches and must be checked more frequently.
- Keep the cooling vents, guide-bar groove, lubrication holes, sprocket area, handles, and guards clean and free of sawdust, oil deposits, and debris.
- Use only good-quality bar and chain oil. Check the level before work and refill when it reaches one-quarter tank.
- Empty the oil tank after each use to reduce normal seepage. For storage of three months or longer, leave the chain lightly lubricated to help prevent rust.
- Keep all nuts, bolts, screws, hand grips, and protection devices secure and in good condition.
- Replace worn or damaged parts with identical approved parts; contact an authorized service provider for maintenance not described in the manual.
- Store the clean, cooled saw indoors in a dry, locked location away from children, with the bar sheath installed.
