Do not use the snow shovel if any listed item is missing or damaged. Start Here: Before First Use STOPDo not insert a battery until assembly, adjustment, and work-area checks are complete. Remove the battery before adjusting, inspecting, cleaning, unclogging, transporting, or storing the snow shovel. 1 Charge Fully charge the included battery. Charge the 4AX2 batteries one at a time. › 2 Assemble Connect the poles and tighten each adjustment knob. › 3 Inspect Check the controls, fasteners, guards, and paved work area. › 4 Clear Insert one battery only when the shovel is ready to operate. Battery Charging Remove the battery Press the push-lock buttons and pull the battery pack out of the snow shovel. For the 4AX2 kit, charge each 4.0 Ah battery separately with the included charger. Connect the charger Confirm the outlet matches the charger rating. Plug the charger adapter into the wall outlet, then connect the charger plug to the battery's charge socket. Watch the status light The charger light is red while charging and changes to green when the battery is fully charged. Disconnect after charging Allow up to 6-7 hours for the 5.0 Ah battery or 5-6 hours for each 4.0 Ah battery. Unplug the charger and disconnect the battery when charging is complete. LEDCharge indicator: 1 light = 25%, 2 lights = 50%, 3 lights = 75%, and 4 lights = 100%. TEMPCharge indoors at room temperature. The approved battery charging range is 41°F-105°F (5°C-40.5°C). Assembly & Adjustment Connect the poles Raise the handle section until it is level with the lower pole. Align the groove, insert the upper section into the lower-pole connector, and turn the joint knob counterclockwise until secure. Set the pole height Turn the telescoping adjustment knob clockwise to loosen it. Extend the pole to a comfortable height, then turn the knob counterclockwise to lock it. Position the auxiliary handle With the battery removed and the auger fully stopped, loosen the handle knob, set the auxiliary handle to the desired position, and retighten it securely. Set the discharge direction With the battery removed and the auger fully stopped, turn the directional chute control left or right. The adjustment range is 45 degrees. Starting & Stopping CLEARKeep hands and feet away from the auger and discharge opening. Clear the work area of people, pets, stones, wires, mats, boards, and other objects before starting. Insert one battery Slide a charged battery into the compartment until it clicks and locks in place. Keep the second 4AX2 battery outside the tool as a charged spare. Use the two-step start Press and hold the safety lock switch with your thumb, then squeeze the trigger switch with your fingers. Release the safety lock After the snow shovel powers on, release the safety lock while continuing to hold the trigger. Stop the machine Release the trigger switch. Wait for the auger to stop completely before moving, adjusting, or inspecting the unit. Snow-Clearing Tips 1 Use the right pace Push forward at a comfortable rate that lets the shovel clear the path completely. Move more slowly as snow depth increases. 2 Aim the discharge Turn the directional control right to throw snow left, or left to throw snow right. Direct snow away from people, pets, windows, vehicles, and property. 3 Work with the wind Throw snow downwind when possible and slightly overlap each pass for a cleaner path. 4 Use suitable surfaces Use the snow shovel on decks, steps, and paved walkways. Do not clear gravel or crushed-rock surfaces. 5 Keep steady footing Wear winter footwear with good traction. Keep a firm two-hand grip, walk rather than run, and use extra care on slopes and while backing up. Clearing a Clogged Rotor STOPNever use your hands to clear the rotor housing. Hand contact with the rotating blades is a leading cause of snow-shovel injury. Shut off the motor Release the trigger and remove the battery from the snow shovel. Wait 10 seconds Allow at least 10 seconds for the rotor blades to come to a complete stop. Use a clean-out tool Free the rotating blades with a suitable clean-out tool - never with your hands. Inspect before restarting Check the rotor housing, auger, and guards for damage or trapped foreign material before reinstalling the battery. Maintenance & Storage STOPAlways remove the battery before cleaning, checking, servicing, or storing the snow shovel. 1 Prevent freeze-up After clearing snow, run the machine for a few minutes to help prevent the rotor blades from freezing. 2 Clean and inspect Remove snow and debris, check fasteners for tightness, and inspect for worn, loose, or damaged parts. Use only identical replacement parts. 3 Do not lubricate The snow shovel does not require lubrication. Its bearings are factory-lubricated for the life of the product. 4 Store the shovel indoors Store it in a locked, dry location out of children's reach. Remove the battery before storage. 5 Protect the batteries and charger Store them at room temperature away from moisture. During off-season storage, recharge each battery every 6 months to about 50% capacity, shown by 2 indicator lights. Troubleshooting Guide Before checking the snow shovel, release the trigger, remove the battery, and wait for all moving parts to stop. Perform only the safe checks below. View 5.0 Ah Kit → 5.0 Ah Manual → 2 × 4.0 Ah Manual → Frequently Asked Questions Can both X20-SNOW-4AX2 batteries be installed at once? No. The snow shovel has one battery compartment and operates with one battery at a time. The second 4.0 Ah battery is supplied as a swap-in spare when the first battery needs charging. Can the 4.0 Ah and 5.0 Ah batteries be used in either snow-shovel kit? The manuals list both X20-BATT-4A and X20-BATT-5A as authorized battery options for this platform. Use only X20 Series 20V ECOSHARP® batteries and the compatible charger. Do not use 24V IONMAX batteries or chargers. Why does the product say 20V Max when nominal voltage is 18V? A fully charged battery reaches a maximum initial no-load voltage of 20V. Under typical operating load, the nominal voltage is 18V. Is product registration required for warranty coverage? No. The manuals state that registration is encouraged but is not required to preserve warranty rights. Both kits include a 1-year limited warranty for qualifying household use.
