24V IONMAX: Check the Charger Connection
- Inspect the battery and charger. Do not continue if either item is visibly damaged, wet, unusually hot, or contaminated around the contacts.
- Check the outlet. Plug the charger directly into a working wall outlet. Avoid extension cords, power strips, and overloaded circuits while testing.
- Install the battery. Slide the battery firmly onto the charger until it is fully seated and clicks into place. Do not force it.
- Observe the charger light. Allow a few seconds for the indicator to respond, then compare the result below.
| Charger Indicator | What It Means | What to Do Next |
|---|---|---|
| Solid red light | The charger is receiving power and the battery has started charging. | Continue to Step 2 and check the battery’s status lights. |
| No light | The charger may not be receiving power or may require service. | Remove the battery, unplug the charger, and test it from a different working wall outlet. If no light appears, contact Shop Joe Support. |
| Different color or flashing pattern | The meaning may vary by charger model. | Check the charger label and operator’s manual for the exact light code. Do not assume every flashing light means the same thing. |
24V IONMAX: Check the Battery Status
- Remove the battery from the charger. Hold the battery securely and slide it off without pulling on the charger cord.
- Press the battery status button.
- Count the indicator lights. Compare the result with the table below.
| Battery Status | What It Means | What to Do Next |

| Three lights | The battery is fully charged. | Install it in the tool. If the tool still does not operate, check the tool’s battery connection, safety controls, and troubleshooting guide. |
| Two lights | The battery is partially charged. | The battery has some available charge. Fully charge it soon for best performance, or continue troubleshooting the tool. |
| One light | The battery charge is low. | Return it to the charger and allow it to charge completely before testing the tool again. |
| No lights | The battery may be fully drained or may have an internal problem. | Charge it for at least 30 minutes, remove it, and press the status button again. If no lights appear, contact Shop Joe Support. |
X20 ECOSHARP: Check the Charger and Battery
Charger-specific guidance: These charging steps and indicator behaviors apply to the 20V-BATT-5A battery with charger GC09-2100750US. The 2.0-Ah and 4.0-Ah batteries are part of the same X20 platform, but charging time and charger behavior must be confirmed in the manual supplied with the compatible charger.
- Remove the battery from the tool. Press the battery’s push-lock buttons and pull the pack straight out.
- Inspect the battery and charger. Do not continue if either is damaged, wet, swollen, leaking, unusually hot, or giving off an unusual odor.
- Check the charging temperature. Charge only between 41°F and 105°F (5°C and 40.5°C). Allow a hot battery to cool to room temperature, and do not charge a battery in freezing conditions.
- Verify the power supply. Confirm the outlet matches the charger rating of 100–240V AC, 50/60Hz.
- Connect the charger. Plug the charger adapter into the wall outlet, then insert the charger plug into the battery’s charging socket.
- Observe the charging indicators. The charger light should be red while charging and green when the battery is fully charged. The battery LEDs blink and illuminate one by one during charging.
- Allow the battery to charge. The 5.0-Ah battery can take approximately eight hours with charger GC09-2100750US. For the 2.0-Ah or 4.0-Ah battery, use the charging time stated in the compatible charger’s manual.
- Disconnect safely. Unplug the charger from the wall outlet first, then disconnect the charger plug from the battery.
| X20 Indicator | What It Means | What to Do |
|---|---|---|
| Charger light is red | The battery is charging. | Leave the battery connected for the required charging time and monitor it for abnormal heat or damage. |
| Charger light is green | The battery is fully charged. | Unplug the charger from the outlet first, then disconnect it from the battery. |
| Battery LEDs blink in sequence | Charging is in progress. | Allow charging to continue. |
| No charger light | The outlet, charger connection, or charger may have a problem. | Disconnect the charger, verify the outlet and connections, and retest. Contact support if the charger remains unresponsive. |
X20 Battery Charge-Level Lights
| Battery LEDs | Approximate Charge Level | Recommended Action |
|---|---|---|
| 1 light | 25% | Recharge soon. |
| 2 lights | 50% | The battery is partially charged. |
| 3 lights | 75% | The battery has substantial charge remaining. |
| 4 lights | 100% | The battery is fully charged. |
If the X20 Battery Will Not Charge
- Verify that the outlet matches the charger’s 100–240V AC, 50/60Hz rating.
- Inspect the battery and charger for damage. Do not use damaged components.
- Charge only within 41–105°F (5–40.5°C), allowing a hot battery to cool to room temperature first.
- If the battery has not been charged for more than 12 months, exhaustive discharge may have caused irreversible damage and the battery may need replacement.
