Holding, Starting & Stopping Prepare yourself and the work area Wear protective gloves, non-slip footwear, eye protection, hearing protection, and close-fitting clothing. Clear cords, lights, wire, loose string, and other objects from the hedge. Remove the blade cover Keep the battery removed while pressing and sliding the blade cover off the blade. Install the charged battery Slide the battery into the compartment until the push-lock clicks securely into place. Use a firm two-handed grip Keep your dominant hand on the rear switch handle and your other hand on the front guard handle. Keep the blade below waist level and away from your body. Engage all three controls Press the front handle switch, safety lock switch, and On/Off trigger at the same time to start the hedge trimmer. Stop and wait Release the On/Off trigger and wait for the blade to stop completely. Wait at least five seconds before restarting. Cutting Procedures LIMITDo not cut branches thicker than 0.59 in. (15 mm). Use lopping shears, a hand saw, or a pruning saw for larger growth. Feed new growth into the blade Use a wide sweeping action so smaller stems enter the blade teeth directly. Work in several passes For substantial shaping, take a little at a time. Cut both sides of the hedge first and then trim the top. Make horizontal cuts Tilt the blade approximately 5-10 degrees toward the direction of travel for a cleaner, easier cut. Make vertical cuts Begin at the bottom and sweep upward in an arc so cuttings fall toward the ground. Reduce pace if the blade slows Never force the trimmer through heavy shrubbery. Stop and use a more suitable tool for oversized material. Cutting Tips 1 Keep both hands on the tool Never hold a shrub with one hand while operating the trimmer with the other, and never grip the blade guard. 2 Use a guide line Stretch string along the hedge at the desired height and trim just above it for a level top. 3 Shape the sides slightly inward Keeping the hedge a little narrower at the top exposes more growth to light and creates a more uniform result. 4 Match motion to the growth Use sweeping cuts for flexible new growth and a controlled sawing movement for older, thicker stems within the rated capacity. 5 Keep clear of electrical hazards Never cut near cords or power lines. If the blade contacts a live cable, do not touch the blade; isolate power and follow the manual's emergency guidance. Blade Lubrication & Cleaning STOPStop the motor, remove the battery, and wait for the blade to stop before blade care. Never spray or rinse the blade with water. Clear surface debris Use a dry towel or brush to remove clippings and heavy soil from the blade and ventilation slots after each use. Lubricate the top blade Lay the tool on a flat surface and apply lightweight machine oil along the edge of the top blade before and after each use. Re-oil during extended work For long trimming sessions, stop intermittently, remove the battery, and lubricate the blade again. Never oil a running tool. Clean the housing carefully Use a damp cloth and mild detergent on the tool body. Avoid strong detergents, aromatic oils, kerosene, and other solvents. Blade Sharpening EDGESharpen only when cutting performance deteriorates and the blade frequently snags. Do not operate with dull, bent, cracked, or otherwise damaged blades. Remove the battery Stop the motor, wait for the blade to stop, and disconnect the battery before handling the cutting assembly. Secure the blade Clamp the blade safely in a vise while keeping hands clear of the cutting teeth. File the exposed teeth Use a smooth round file on each exposed cutting surface and retain the original tooth angle. Expose the remaining edges Remove the blade from the vise, reinstall the battery, and briefly run the motor only as directed in the manual. Stop and remove the battery again before continuing. Repeat or arrange service Finish the remaining teeth with the battery removed. If the blade is damaged or you cannot sharpen it safely, arrange qualified service. Storage & Transport 1 Remove the battery Stop the motor and disconnect the battery before carrying, transporting, or storing the tool. 2 Fit the blade cover Always place the supplied cover over the blade before storage or transport, taking care around the sharp teeth. 3 Store clean and dry Keep the tool indoors, inaccessible to children, and away from garden chemicals, de-icing salts, humidity, and direct sunlight. 4 Use the recommended temperature The manual identifies 50°F-86°F (10°C-30°C) as the ideal tool-storage range. Store the fully charged battery in a cool, dry place, ideally near 77°F (25°C).
